So I've decided that it's a REALLY good thing I don't have many finals b/c wedding planning has become my highest priority. :) I'm enjoying it a lot so far- other than the fact that it seems like 93023 people are getting married on september 18th! But things are coming along nicely, and despite the overwhelming options of picking an 'accent color' (this task has proven very difficult for me), I'm just so excited! I also want to get as much done over xmas break as possible because unfortunately, come January, I have to study again... lame huh?
But for those of you who wanted to know about the candle passing... here it is! A "candle passing" is a ceremony that sorority girls do when someone gets engaged. The girl who gets engaged keeps it a secret and ties her ring to a candle. The whole group gets in a circle and lights the candle. They pass the ring around for everyone to look at and then once everyone has seen it, they pass it again and the girl who got engaged blows it out. That's how it's SUPPOSED to work. Well, not mine! That monday, there was a house management meeting so we had to follow all the rules... one which includes not lighting a candle. So we had to use this lightbulb candle and it was PRETTY TACKY.. but I got over it. Things are going somewhat smoothly until a girl dropped the lightbulb and it shattered! So everyone had to turn on the lights, pick up glass, and inform the group that "whoever's ring this is, just kind of shield the light! We don't want you to cut yourself!" This led for a super awkward "reveal" that was nothing close to what it's supposed to be (being the one to blow out the candle is the best part!). But regardless, it was still fun and now we have a good story! Certainly no one will forget my candle passing. :)
